A.M.
is a 21 year old male who presents a painful ankle with swelling. The
patient complains of moderate pain and swelling of the left
ankle. The patient’s medical history is unremarkable. The
patient admits recent trauma during a soccer game. The
patient does not smoke cigarettes or consume alcoholic beverages. On
physical examination, you note a young male who appears to be in good health.
The foot is flexible. You
note mild to moderate ecchymosis as well as tenderness over the lateral
collaterals. There is some loss of motion and function with mild to moderate
instability. You
note appropriate athletic footwear with no appreciable wear pattern. Upon
Gait Assessment, you note a minimal ability to bear weight and ambulate on
the affected side. |
